To ensure that you have the opportunity to not only vote in this election, but also perhaps become a board member, please sign up HERE to be a PTSO member by September 29th. See below for information on applying to run for a position on the board.

Per our bylaws, we provide 14 days advance notice for elections.
9/23/25: Close candidate applications
9/30/25 Send voting links to membership

We need your help! The PTSO Board organizes, directs and facilitates many programs & events that benefit Astor School & community. BOARD ELECTIONS are being held September 30- October 9, 2025. We work hard, and we recognize that people have varying availability, therefore we encourage the sharing of board positions, up to 3 people, to enable even busy parents to get involved. Scroll down for Board Officer minimum commitments, and descriptions of open positions.

In addition to the position-specific responsibilities listed below, board members are expected to

Help with the organization or day-of running of our 2 largest annual events, the Benefit & Carnival,
Attend all or most monthly board meetings Engage in regular communication with other board members
Position-specific responsibilities listed below. Remember: sharing positions is encouraged to manage the workload.
Treasurer
2-year term
Manages all PTSO financial records, deposits, disbursements, and budget preparation. Responsible for presenting financial summaries at board meetings and completing required tax filings, corporate insurance filings (Form 990, CT-12). Persons elected to this position will serve as co-Treasurer with current treasurers.
Events Coordinator
2-year term
Manages PTSO events and coordinates with Astor School on school-related events. Works closely with volunteers to ensure successful community-building activities. We really need support in this category! Examples: Teacher Appreciation week, Drama Performances, Boo Hoo Breakfasts, Back to School Teacher Breakfast, Winter and Spring concerts, Carnival and Benefit planning, various small fundraisers support.
Volunteer Coordinator
2-year term
Manages PTSO volunteer recruitment, maintains volunteer lists for events/activities, helps coordinate schedules for individual events, meet and greets volunteers for the larger scale events for day of training (Astor Benefit).
Secretary
2 year term
Manages PTSO calendar & website, meeting notes & end of meeting task assignment, newsletter, class coordinator updates, general membership communication.
Fundraising Coordinator
2 year term
Manages various fundraisers for the PTSO ( examples-Mikes Drive in, Sees Candies, Annual PTSO Benefit Etc). Help contact businesses for sponsorships and partnerships. Come up with new ideas to help raise funds for the PTSO. Person(s) elected to this position will serve as co-fundraisers with current Fundraising Coordinator.
