COMMITTEES
Astor Carnival Committee
Each year, the Astor PTSO holds a fun family oriented carnival on its playground and green space area. This event is a dedicated time to celebrate the Astor community and the completion of the school year. The carnival is for Astor School families and is free to all attendees.
The PTSO is creating a carnival committee to help it run and organize the carnival each year. This committee will:
Make recommendations to the board for which existing and new games will be offered at the annual Astor Carnival.
Maintain the current inventory of games while also creating new if needed
Research food vendor options, as well as options for food to be provided by the PTSO.
Plan within the budget set by the PTSO for carnival
Research inflatable options for optimal fun experiences for all age groups.
Confirm and recommend to the board allotment of prizes, tickets, and additional activities necessary for a successful celebration.
Help recruit volunteers
Organize volunteer schedules and opportunities that will allow individuals to both help in volunteering at the carnival while also having enough time to spend with their families enjoying the event ( Determine how many volunteers are needed for half hour shifts at each attraction).
Organize volunteer opportunities before the carnival for building new games
Plan and recruit for carnival attractions like face painting, performances, photo booths, karaoke etc.
This committee will involve an annual commitment, if possible, where one would help this year and plan for the following year's carnival.
* Time commitment will vary on what duties you are interested in helping with. Commitment is varied based on the amount of time you have to offer. All levels of commitment are welcome and encouraged.

Green Team
The Green Team: A committee created to help maintain and keep our green spaces at the school alive and thriving. This can be anything from helping weed and water the green space behind the school, contacting local city groups to partner with or helping organize materials, coordinated weekly trash pickups, creating school wide recycling programs, garden beds, and extended green spaces as well as new committee focused ideas.
* Your commitment will vary on what duties you are interested in helping with and on your time availability. All levels of commitment are welcome and encouraged; if you'd like to help us with this committee, we will find a task/time that fits for you!
